There is no direct bus if you want to travel from Bangkok to Koh Chang, but there is a bus to Trat which leaves from Ekkamai Bus Terminal (Eastern Bus Terminal). The bus terminal is not far from the city center. The ticket costs around $8 and the trip duration is 6 hours. The bus journeys start from the morning and the last bus leaves near midnight that is suitable for those who love traveling at night.

The buses are not available at night. The Ferry Pier is 30 km away from Trat and you can reach there by a pickup. Ferries leave every 30 minutes from 6.30 am to 7.00 pm. The cost of the ferry ride is $2.3, and the travel time is 30 minutes. Another ferry pier that is 20 km away from Trat is Center Point Ferry Pier. It is 25 minutes far from the island and doesn’t have any available ride at night.

Minibus from Bangkok to Koh Chang

If you want to reach Lonely Beach in Ko Chang from Suvarnabhumi through minibus. The travel time (including ferry travel) is 7 hours and the cost of the ticket is $17. The minibus leaves three times a day from Bangkok to Koh Chang and doesn’t leave at night. The tickets can be bought at Bangkok airport (near exit 8 on the first floor) and cannot be booked in advance. Another way to take a minibus from the Victory monument metro station is located in the center of the city. The cost of the ticket is $11 and the traveling time is 6 hours while the waiting time can be up to 2 hours.

Bus Transfer from Bangkok airport to Koh Chang

An express bus no.392 leaves from Bangkok airport to Koh Chang every day. The travel duration is 8 hours (including ferry ride), the cost of the ticket is $11 and it also includes the cost of the ferry. You can buy a ticket to Trat Pier for $6.8 and then can reach the island by ferry. Buy ticket from Suvarnabhumi Airport (on the first floor, near exit 8. The bus departs early in the morning one time a day.

Then you will have to take a ferry from the Koh Chang Ferry Pier which is 30 km from Trat where you can reach there by a pickup. Ferries leave for Koh Chang every 30 minutes from 06:30 a.m. to 07:00 p.m. Cost of the ticket is $2.3, and the time to travel is 30 minutes. You can also take a ferry from Center Point Ferry Pier which is 25 minutes from the island and is 20 km from Trat. No night journeys are available.

Transfer from Bangkok to Koh Chang

Many people prefer traveling by car because it is the most comfortable mode among others. There are many advantages to use this option. There are no stops or changes, your luggage is in your hand and you can choose any car you want. The cost though high but serves the purpose. The cost is around $165 with no waiting time (for an economy class car) of 4 passengers and around $210 for a minibus.

There is also an alternative Center Point Ferry Pier, the distance from the Center point ferry pier to Trat is 20 km. It is 25 minutes from the island, and there are no night journeys.

Car rental in Bangkok

If you have health insurance and an international driver’s license, you can rent a car. They need your IDL, health insurance, passport, and photocopies of the documents. Remember to avoid scams and choose an internationally certified company to rent a car. The fare is around $23 and if you want to have insurance against carjacking you can deposit the amount of $28.
